We Are CAP Documentary Screening
Location: Kentucky Theater
Description: Appalachia is oftentimes depicted as a region perpetually struggling with poverty. This one-hour documentary spotlights the work of one nonprofit started by a priest who was called to the mountains. Christian Appalachian Project has been doing the work for six decades to build hope, transform lives, and share Christ’s love through service.

CAP Will Be There Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion

Description: Substandard housing is the most visible sign of poverty in Appalachia. The area's houses and their residents are aging. For the most part, builders aren't venturing to rural counties. Repair costs squeeze many longtime homeowners, and loan restrictions based on the condition of a property can pose other obstacles to home ownership. This short film spotlights advocates seeking to address the lack of affordable housing, as well as the numerous volunteers that have served with Christian Appalachian Project to make homes safe, warm, dry, and accessible.

Description: This presentation and legislative reception brings the story of Christian Appalachian Project to the Kentucky State Assembly as we celebrate 60 years of service in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky.
Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion

Description: According to Feeding America, one in six children in Kentucky faces hunger. That food insecurity rate is higher than the national average. In the Appalachian region, things are even worse with one in five children struggling with food insecurity. The situation is even more dire In CAP's service area in Eastern Kentucky where one in four children is hungry. Additionally, seniors living in isolation are also challenged by not having enough nutritious food. This short film spotlights advocates seeking to address food insecurity on a large scale as well as locally in states and communities, and the ways Christian Appalachian Project has responded to this critical issue.
